Good read... enough to enjoy on its own whilst making me want to read the book.

I know this isn't close to an original thought, but I remain torn as to whether and when I should care if an artist is a complete asshole. I love Talking Heads: 77 and Stop Making Sense, and Remain in Light is pretty great, too, in my opinion. I've listened to all of those records countless times, and I would probably put Stop Making Sense (even though, yes, I am aware it's not really an album) in my personal pantheon. Sucks for his bandmates if he and Eno were jerks, but in the end we all got some great music out of it--maybe it had to be that way to form the final product.

It would be devastating to have to stop listening to assholes music.

My top Heads album is definitely 77. I'm going to have to read this, I always hear the albums in a different way after reading about them getting made.

I feel the same, it's often illuminating, but not always in a good way. Sometimes there is a mystique that's shattered when you read about normal people doing normal shit that happens to turn out well.

Wait until they're an asshole to you. You will lose the ability to enjoy their music completely.
