I don't think we've ever appropriately evaluated that as a society. Want to kill Bin Laden? Yes, ok, how badly? Badly enough that you'll risk a polio epidemic? Cool, let's do that.

I hope that we've learned from covid that diseases don't tend to stay put. I don't know off hand what the polio vaccination coverage in the US is. I thought they had stopped doing it, but I know my kids have had it. So either they never stopped or they've brought it back. Not sure. Even if it's 100% the CIA fucked up royally in that mission.

The CIA has not, is not, and will never be concerned with what society chooses to evaluate. I think the World Factbook is their friendly beard operation to make you forget that their principle stock in trade is covert wars of destabilization in pursuit of American corporate hegemony.
