Not the story you expect.

I went for a stretch without healthcare. It makes you feel fragile.

My wife and I have been without healthcare for five years now. Getting maternity coverage is going to cost us about $850 a month.

I'm Union, by the way. Have been for 3 years. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

This stuff makes me angry. I want a public option. I want to pay for other people's healthcare with my taxes. I'm not rich, but I don't care. I don't want to live in a country with a GDP like this, and let people go without healthcare.

I had an enlarged lymph node removed when I had no coverage. I was lucky enough that my parents could help me out. It was not cheap. Luckily it was benign. If it was cancer, I would have been fucked.

"Friend" of mine (when I'm drunk, ask me to tell some "fuckin' Rob" stories) decided to take his buddy's road luge out when his buddy thought the road was too dangerous. Airlift, 3 nights in the hospital, emergency surgery and 6 months of traction.

$150k.

Wrecked his credit but good.

I've sure as hell got comprehensive coverage on my motorcycle insurance, I tell you what...

aside: There are plenty of artists etc that don't have healthcare and because of this aren't willing to have children. This is sad imo. You can have a relatively low income and be great parents. Kids need food, shelter, healthcare and most importantly love. The healthcare part is a small part really unless something catastrophic happens. -This is when not having insurance would be horrible.

I think having a universal healthcare system would allow better people to have kids. Let's face it, the crappy parents are still going to pump out kids... healthcare or not.

I enjoyed the post. thanks.
