I had a look through and #photography doesn't seem to have many of us here on Hubski contributing photos we've taken and want to display.
Don't get me wrong, I do like the current stream of photo essays and creative efforts by professionals (ala the modern clothes on statutes, and the 'Stone' animals), but I'd love to have proper, constructive criticism applied to my work, and to see the work of others.
On that note, here's one of my favourites taken earlier this year at Alcatraz.
Should we start a new tag for Hubski photos, or channel it all under #photography? Thoughts?
Yes, absolutely. I would love to see more and more original content on Hubski. I would encourage you make it more than just the photo though. How you took it, what the process was like, why you like it so much, connections to other things, anything. I know that sometimes the photo is best displayed as the isolated image that speaks for itself and that is fine too. Personally, I like backstory (but not the typical cancerous sob story kind that you see frequently elsewhere.)
Completely agree, and as mentioned below I'll refrain from flooding the place with photos. To me that's as bad as the prolonged War-And-Peace stories tied to many submissions. I'll add a small backstory and technical details with each one, and maybe cap myself at one a week.
Thanks for linking that; a lot of shared sentiments expressed in that post by others, and great to see that OC is encouraged. Definitely think it should be added to the FAQ, as I'd hate to see others a) not contributing or b) the 'Not Mine' methodology coming through.
No problem. Please submit your photos :) Also, nice photo. Did you take it yourself?
Duly noted, I'll try to hold off from flooding the place but, will pop some up every now and then! I was in SF back in March for 3 1/2 weeks, with no schedule, timeframes, plans or anything: the first holiday I've been on without an itinerary. I had recommendations of what to do/where to go, and naturally a list of things on the 'must see' list, but most of the time I would grab my camera and just go for a walk! This was with my current setup, Nikon D90 and 16-85mm lens. I've got plenty more from Alcatraz and SF if people are interested; I can pop up an album after work if people are keen!
