Pretty bad if Zuckerberg doesn't use Facebook Home. It seems to me that Facebook is designing strategically first, and for the user second.
As an aside:
- It’s always a sign of trouble when you’ve built something you don’t want to use yourself. Why does everyone I know who works at Apple carry an iPhone? Every single one? Not because they have to. It’s because they want to.
That seems like a bad idea to me. At least on the iPhone design team, you would want some Apple employees to use Android. If not, they would be pretty blind to the competition.
The creation of shit that you yourself don't even want is one of the most mindblowing things about some companies. Even my company does shit that leaves the minions scratching our heads. Quote of the day "we'ere really good at finding the niche markets...so we're going to build this device for this niche market. Someone has to want it." No. They don't. Design a product you want, that you would use, and then find the niche markets to expand your territory and profits.
It's really hard to make products that people _love_ to use. From what I've read this is driven by a thoughtfulness and attention to tiny details. It looks like none of that happened here and they just threw this out there expecting people to flock to it because they believed their brand is so amazing. Sadly, there brand isn't amazing, and they have hardcore trust issues. They'll have to make an much better product than what's already out there for anyone to bite.
