Is there really a land problem though? Surely the costs and environmental impact of a vertical farm outweighs the cost and impact of farming in cheap rural areas and transporting it in. I agree it's a cool concept but it seems like a waste of effort and land to try to force farming in an area (a city) specifically designed for purposes other than farming.
