There were other articles about this, this was the least transphobic but also lacked some critical details. The cop tried to pick them up as trans prostitutes, failed to do so, tried with some other trans women failed, and then started shooting.

After reading a few more articles on it, it would seem that the fact that they're trans is only incidental. None of them imply that was a contributing factor for why he shot them. Just seems a strange thing to add to the article if it wasn't a factor. Should have just been "Women shot after drunk asshat turned down."
