Not speaking to this piece directly (I am still digesting it), but it brought something to my mind: I know that there was a time when banks and telecommunication companies treated you as if they wanted you to be satisfied. That is not my experience. My interactions with banks and telecoms feel like interactions I have had with government agencies. Sometimes they are worse.
IMHO there has been an increase in belligerence in individual corporate-to-customer interaction where the corporation has become a government protectorate, not a entity supported by the consumer.

I think herein lies the power that the "people driven media" as you called it http://hubski.com/pub?id=5740 has yet to fully embrace. Tired of your bank, your cable provider? Time for mass exodus. I guarantee other hubskiers, ridditors and diggers(are they called diggers?) would join in. Corporations forget that we have options, the most obvious of which is to not use their service. Do you think Chase Bank would notice if 50,000 people all walked in their doors at 4:00 on a Wednesday to close their accounts? -that would be amazing! Power to the people!
