I think we need to take a few steps in that direction, but must be careful about going too far down that road. IMHO the problem has been explored, but the pursuit creates a new property, the power to determine how property is shared, and this means makes the ends untenable.
But, we have enough productivity and technology that some of the public share could be improved. Basic quality healthcare, for example.
