Why do so many vocal defenders of gun ownership have to be nuts? By most measures, I am a liberal. I believe in the importance of the Second Amendment. I am not squishy. We have plenty of guns in our family. Personally, I think the best way to reduce rampages is by improving mental health screening and availability of care, plus checks to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Most gun owners don't get a false sense of security or bravado from owning a gun. Nor do they view gun ownership as a political position. This guy has a disturbing worldview.Just as Obamacare has nothing to do with health, and cap and trade has nothing to do with so-called global warming, anti-gun laws have nothing to do with saving children’s lives.
Did you read the article? He's certainly coming from a background well aware of government oppression and he had a terrifying experience. Add in that he was probably ultra-liberal before faced with reality and he's paid to write in a forceful manner. He seems less nuts than Chris Matthews and more reasoned than Jay Carney to me. -XC PS - The best thing I heard today was: heave steel locking doors on the classrooms.
Yes, I read it. It must have scared the climate change skeptic into him. :) The only thing worse than the monsters are the monstrous reactions we have to them. I hate fear-driven social engineering. We can face the root of this, and not give in to it.Add in that he was probably ultra-liberal before faced with reality and he's paid to write in a forceful manner.

Tell it to whom, exactly? The emerging societies in Vietnam and Thailand and, god willing, Burma who are intent on getting to the level of wealth that the poorest 10% of America enjoys? And if they believe you and don't care, does that change anything? _XC
