Someone on the radio today pointed out we should expect a jump in numbers of confirmed cases relatively soon, but only because more people are getting tested and there might be a large number of asymptomatic carriers, not necessarily because the disease is spreading faster. They also said, in context, tens of thousands die from the flu each year, so in terms of raw numbers this isn't as serious, but if this particular strain is more severe in terms of symptoms, its important to be vigilant. Basically, I think they're saying, be careful and be healthy, but don't let the media panic you and trust health organizations to do their job. Smart advice, radio person, wherever you are.
