I've spent a lot of time discussing the ramifications of the inevitable transition to driverless cars, but rather than expound my own theories on this fascinating thought experiment I'd like to pose these questions to Hubski: - What near term impact will it have? - What future impact would it have? - What far future can you see it leading to? - What obstacles are in the way?
I think a car full of kids without an adult will be something that will take getting used to. I imagine they could drop the 'driving' age a couple of years at least. I also think that it will change the style of cars. Once they are passive transportation vehicles, I don't think people will care as much about styling, and will be more interested in comfort. Seats will face different directions, and people will want to lay down.
