To add to the topic of mindfulness, it is frequently used in positive psychology. It literally means being mindful of your consciousness. It is a way of looking within and being present in the moment. A way to accept things as they are and life as it will be, without being overcome with the incredible nature of reality. It can be increased through practices, such as meditation and other techniques that help separate emotion and ego from experience.

I have been trying to get into a practice of meditating. It's hard but I have noticed that when I am able to do it, even for just a few minutes, a few days in a row I feel a little less scattered.
