Yeah, that whole 'article' is nonsense. The AI didn't "go rogue" or "start hunting its own players". The NPC ships being described were always meant to attack players. The bug was that the NPC ships' weapon categories got messed up, meaning that they could do things like constantly fire super-powerful weapons that would almost instantly kill players.

It's a neat story, but in this case completely untrue.

Well, no, the story is real and true. It's just that it's not the story that the article headline wants to present, even if it borrows something from the real events.
