    Ockham's razor is not a scientific principle. It is entirely possible that this star has something else weird going on with it, and also has comets orbiting it, and Schafer has not disputed this in his paper beyond "well, the simplest solution is usually right"

Further, I don't think the razor applies when there are a fuckton of observable stars. The simplest thing happens 99 times out of 100, maybe, but that still means all kinda weird shit is out there.
