BluStor, a Chicago-based technology startup, is bringing to market a new wireless biometric identity card that aims to eliminate usernames, passwords, and pin numbers. Citing the inherent vulnerabilities of mobile devices and cloud-based solutions, the CyberGate card stores a user's biometrics on a credit-card sized computer that fits easily into a wallet or purse — keeping sensitive data separate from more vulnerable mobile devices and services. Supporting Bluetooth, the card authenticates a user without ever leaving the security of their wallet and can replace or augments traditional usernames, passwords, and pin numbers with ultra-secure multi-factor biometric authentication. The card also contains 8GB of user accessible flash memory, hardware encryption, a NFC interface, and a rechargeable battery.
