I find this stuff makes more sense if you look at it as body modification for sci-fi geeks than as practical technology. I mean, "grind"/"grinder" comes from a Warren Ellis comic. "Stick some device in your body" isn't a very good solution to any problem, pacemakers and such aside, but if you start from "I want to stick some device in my body, what sort of device might I stick in my body" you get monitoring or storage. It would be better if they talked about what they were doing that way instead of as The Future of Medicine.
