The LAist link had the best overview of it. NBC doesn't say much on the project itself, but they have some amazing pictures on the above link.
I think it is a super interesting concept - especially to think about what would have been different if the riots erupted today. Would even more people take to the streets, or would people be more content with using Facebook/Twitter/Blogs/Comment sections as an outlet for their anger? Would law enforcement have a harder time stopping the chaos? As we've seen with some of the OWS protests, protesters can easily be broken up by law enforcement only to run around and meet up a few blocks away.
