Ideally, social media sites delete all account information when people decide they're done. I know you can't control scrapers, so if you put something online, best to expect it to be there forever. But I think it's valid for Twitter to require delete-ability for users of its API. Twitter shouldn't be required to make it easy for people to disregard their values -- in this case, user privacy and the right to be forgotten.

This is sad and stupid, but not surprising seeing as how Twitter relents to various countries' demands for censorship. It's their platform and they can run it how they want, but I think at this point it's safe to say that Twitter isn't in the game to rock the boat or make enemies.
