You know, bfv, I always look forward to Sunday for this thread alone. I find both sharing what I enjoy and seeing what others have to offer is exciting for some reason. Ever since my wife brought home that Pokey LaFarge album the other week, I've been digging back through some of the more modern country/bluegrass artists I enjoy. There's literally enough of them to occupy a whole thread in and of itself, so I'll just post these three here today and maybe share some more next week.
The Tallest Man on Earth is amongst my favorite artists active today. I got the chance to see him perform in North Carolina a few month's back and it was a lively yet intimate performance that went a long way to solidify my admiration for his work. It's still a bit strange to hear him being backed by a full band, but I think he implemented them fittingly in A Dark Bird is Home. Relevant anecdote: I was shopping at a retail store today and I heard this playing over the PA system. I immediately recognized it, but the popiness of the cover intrigued me. I went home, goggled it, and to my surprise found that it was a Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr cover. Cool!
