People got riled up over The Interview because it became an internet/media spectacle. Had the movie not gotten released, we'd have forgotten about it eventually and let it become just another footnote in our cinema history. We as a country get so worked up on whatever is the hot topic at the moment, only to forget about it almost as quickly.

There are so many huge issues going on in our country right now, from poverty and prisons, to the dismantling of our education system, unemployment and the next economic bubble, and on and on. They're slowly killing us, bit by bit and in very real, obvious, and serious ways. Yet still, we as a collective whole, don't give a shit.

Sadly, I honestly don't think an increase in the price of coffee will have any long term, measurable effect on the issue. We just won't care.
