Pianoteq is actually pretty good, compared to sample based VSTs, which lack a realistic sense of resonance and space, to my ear. So don't know about 'better'. I also adjusted the settings to resemble a fortepiano's sound, so maybe that's what you're reacting to.

Oh. Actually, it sounds more like just a poor encoding quality, compared to the demo tracks on Pianoteq's website. What settings did you use for export?
