I started off with a wretched job and an abusive boss, but I made friends with the people in the department I wanted to be in and they got to see some of my work. When they had an opening I applied with them and didn't really even need to interview since by then they all knew about my projects and that I'd fit in well with their team. So really I guess my advice is take any job you can get in a company that's in the field you want to be in, even if it's being the punching bag and copy machine wrangler for someone in middle management. Then network network network so that when something comes up that you WANT to do, you're ready.
