Facebook Owner Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook messaging application – Messenger has crossed the 700 million mark of active monthly users. The count has included the users who sent at least one message monthly.
This figure was revealed by Facebook Owner Mark Zuckerberg at the Annual Investors Conference which held on Thursday but still there is a discrepancy that Playstore lists the App downloads as 1 billion making the app as of on the small list of crossing the 1 billion mark.
In last year November, Facebook has reached its 500 million mark and within span of four months the messaging app has reached to 600 million active users by March. Starting from March, it has added 100 million more active users to its database thus updating to 700 million as far as the number stands now.
So we note that 1 billion will be the number of downloads from the PlayStore (maybe repeated) and 700M will be the number of active users using the messaging app monthly. We guess the app is on its way towards 1 billion active users since there is no support for messaging in Facebook app and users are forced to use the Messenger App for texting through FB.
