This is my Super Bowl. I love watching how it changes hour by hour and kilometer by kilometer. Still stunned that in the morning, after nearly 2,000 miles the leaders are minutes apart. I am a huge fan of multiple classes on the same track and this is a great example. Has anyone else spent too much time watching this?
So I'm not the biggest fan of watching a race on TV; but love live endurance racing! My fiance drives on a chumpcar team which is endurance racing with low value cars ($500ish). If you're in the United States I highly recommend checking out their site and stopping by one of the races; they don't have a huge audience but watching questionable cars fight to win, or just not brake, a 7+ hour race is a lot of fun.
I agree. I've seen a few races here and there when I've been lucky enough to catch them on TV. The only motorsport event that's regularly broadcasted is obviously NASCAR. I personally find Le Mans racing a bit more exciting than F1. F1 and Indy, due to their open wheel nature, have very strict rules for racing and while it's obviously done for safety reasons, it makes them feel more sterilized. I really wish I had a channel that showed it consistently, because I'd probably be more willing to follow it at that point. Though I know it's a thing on the internet these days, I'm not comfortable with the idea of poking around looking for pirated streams of sporting events, be they PPV Boxing matches, PPV UFC fights, or what have you. As an aside, I'd highly encourage anyone that has a local motorsports track to go to at least one event this summer. Be it a dirt circle track that runs pro-stock and modifieds to a drag strip that hosts test and tune nights, motorsports are something I feel that everyone should experience live at least once in their life. Nothing can beat the sights, sound, and overall excitement. I guarantee you'll have a good time. Edit: As another aside, even though I'm a Ford man, I absolutely love watching those Corvettes mixing it up with the likes of Porsche and Ferrari.
Local and live is absolutely a great idea. We have even made weekends of it, heading to Laguna Seca or Sears Point. As a Ford man, you should be happy to hear that they will campaign 2016 with an all new GT. There are a few commercials out there that show the car. It is pretty.
I'm jealous. All there are around me are backwater tracks. While they're definitely awesome, sometimes I wish I could easily get to something bigger. Needless to say, if the new GT can live up to its namesake's record, I'll be a very pleased man.As a Ford man, you should be happy to hear that they will campaign 2016 with an all new GT. Thanks for bringing Le Mans to the table. I have competed in one Oregon group rallycross after a weekend rally class. It was the greatest thing I have done for hobby/amateur sport ever. I would love to find someone to get motorsports as an amateur adult.
