There is nothing to do but give up the search.

This and other things he says remind me of Always We Begin Again, a modern reinterpretation of the Benedictine Rule. It says things like

    quit the search for salvation,

    it is selfish

and

The way to affiliation with the sublime

    is not to add,

but is to take away more each day

    until we have been freed

    even from desire for perfection.

and

Our ultimate goal is this: to forget ourselves.

    To be satisfied in life

we must transcend the desire for satisfaction.
