I watched the videos last night and was furious at the police. Now that I read this, did they really just throw bottles at the police? Everything I saw said that the violence started when the police fired on them. In this case, the police might have been correct in their assessment. Their peaceful protest was no longer peaceful, that is a fact if they threw bottles at them. The fact that the police gave them time to go home instead of be arrested for attempted assault is actually quite encouraging that they are trying to be diplomatic about the incident. I think we should all just try to keep our cool until all the facts are known. We are getting so many different reports from so many different people that it's impossible to know what reports are valid and which are not. It seems like not only are the police lying, the but protesters are as well. This entire situation is fucked. At 8.40pm ... two bottles smashing prompted a furious reaction from the police line. Protesters were warned over a Tannoy to leave the area immediately or be arrested. "Your peaceful protest is no longer peaceful," the police voice said.
