Slaughterhouse Five (Kurt Vonnegut Jr.) Amusing Ourselves to Death (Neil Postman) The Road to Serfdom (Friedrich von Hayek)

If I had to pick one of those three, I'd pick the second.

I was never so crazy about Slaughterhouse Five though. It's got some good moments, but can that kind of structure really make a novel that is satisfying to read?

That depends on the reader. Lots of nauseating dreck has topped the Times best sellers list -- not doubt it satisfies SOMEBODY... Vonnegut isn't for everyone. I probably would resent it if it were.

I started Player Piano but never finished it. Vonnegut himself once commented that he didn't know how he could have written a book as good as Slaughterhouse Five. They tried to make a movie version. It was miserable.
