It's good that we have anonymous, lulzsec, etc. It is key that governments should fear average people, and that lawlessness should be able to occur. That is the foundation of democracy. Public servants: their power is our collective acquiescence, nothing more. My feeling is that there will be little sense in this arena before people in positions of power are those that grew up with the internet. Before then, I think we are going to see some serious stupidity. I know that the Pirate Bay guys were at work on a p2p DNS alternate: http://goo.gl/AC2SC I'll do some more digging to see where it's at. IMO work like that is going to be very important in time.
Hate to be the - one here but please consider the 60's kids who gave us the War on Drugs over here in US and the kids from the '68 over in Europe now in various positions of power in EU or their own nation: http://reason.com/blog/2007/10/05/the-passion-of-joschka-fis... > I know that the Pirate Bay guys were at work on a p2p DNS alternate: http://goo.gl/AC2SC The issue is the physical layer ... sure sneaker nets can work, but the whole point (power) of internet (as it is) is that it reaches a wide audience and if ever get to the point that we need alternate DNS and transport layer, then we're already f* :)
You may be right. It astounds me that the Hippy generation in the US is also the Tea Party generation. Probably plenty of people that are members of both movements. That said, I think there is a real difference the perception of what the internet even is between the younger and older generations. Whereas older folk seem to view it more as a communication tool, I think younger generations see it as a place. Regardless of political persuasion, a greater unity of perception here might be for the good. >The issue is the physical layer ... sure sneaker nets can work, but the whole point (power) of internet (as it is) is that it reaches a wide audience and if ever get to the point that we need alternate DNS and transport layer, then we're already f True enough. But, I will put a toe of Hubski into these alternate streams if able! :) Information needs options. (I actually have a plan for a mobile app in this neighborhood. It's beyond my current skillset and resources atm, but part of a roadmap.)
Not the one I am speaking of. But a Hubski mobile app will definitely come in time if I can justify it. For the former, I want to do something with NFC. >Great point to tie in the IM as well :) I think something along those lines will come sooner. I've got some ideas in the works. :)
