Wanna start an interesting discussion at a dinner party? Ask people how much of what we consume in the US comes from or is manufactured in China.
I was surprised by this, but I don't think the methodology is fair. I don't expect any of our education, accounting and healthcare to come from China. I also don't expect much energy and food to come from there.
I think when people are talking about 'Made in China' they are talking about products that are manufactured in China. I'd like to see the proportion of manufactured goods that are made in China or made from parts from China. Also, I don't think that this is why people assume we owe China money. IMO when people talk about 'Made in China' they are talking about goods that are manufactured in China that might otherwise be manufactured here.
