I don't think that is the case. From what I have gathered, the spread between MtGox and the other exchanges has increased as it is very difficult to get USD out of MtGox. As a result people are buying BTC at MtGox, then selling it for USD at other exchanges, driving the spread, and increasing the buys for BTC at MtGox.as investors relied on the digital currency as an alternative asset, countering the negative effects of a sell-off in emerging markets.
