Not such a rare find, but I had to watch it.
IMO the LoTR trilogy was one of the best book adaptations that I've seen. These Hobbit movies have a lot of expectations to live up to.
The trailer doesn't give too much away, but it seems like they haven't changed the formula.
So, it's seems like just one film then. That's good. No Harry Potter Sequel Stretching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zgb8N-5py0

I wouldn't count on it; I mean if they can make a third Jurassic Park without there being a third book they can make The Hobbit into two films.

You are right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hobbit_(film_series)

They are making two Hobbit movies because they are telling the story of Gandalf's encounters at Dol Guldur. They're filling in the details around a lot of the stuff that's only alluded to or told in tale form in the books. Hence, Gandalf's discussion with Galadriel before heading to Dol Guldur.
Well, I was a little disappointed when I watched the LoTR trilogy. Much was cut out and some things were needlessly changed (e.g. the scene in the Mount of Doom).
Still-without heeding the books-it was a pretty good film trilogy. Now, I can't judge about 'The Hobbit' since I didn't read it (yet).

"I was a little disappointed when I watched the LoTR trilogy" I am a fan of the books too but wasn't "disappointed" with the films. They were wonderful, I enjoyed every minute of them. They did leave out some characters/scenes from the books but those are three of the most dense books in history, the fact that he remained as true to them as he did is miraculous IMO.
I'm excited for the Hobbit, I plan on re-reading it before December of next year!
