I liked Camp! Not nearly as good as Culdesac, but Heartbeat was one of the tracks of the year.
Dammit Muffin, we can't be friends anymore! I kid, but Camp was one of those albums that I thought I really liked, but kept re-listening to, and it just got worse and worse...I guess the whole "I'm a Black dude that acts like a White dude and I rap, even though I'm an actor! I like Asians, Asians, Asians!" thing just didn't vibe with me.
It's tiring. He's tiring. His nerdy minority rapper deal has been done better by other people, like Sol, and he needs to drop it. If every one of his songs was like Heartbeat or These Girls, or So Fly or even Got This Money, he would be an absolute phenom. I don't understand why he hasn't figured that out ... we'll see when the new one drops I guess.
Dunno, man, it seems like Jhené Aiko has been messin with his head. Dunno if you frequent /r/hiphopheads very often, but the conversations about it are simultaneously hilarious and enlightening. Even if you don't check the sub out, I'd recommend it by the way, haha.
