At the moment I'm flicking between Heroes of Newerth and Dota2, both of the ARTS or MOBA genre, whatever people want them to be called. Dota2 is pretty massive, it's currently the most played game on steam.
That's a shame, because the depth level and variety of the genre is absolutely amazing once you get to know it. 1) Read a few guides and play against bots to learn the basics stress-free offline. Whenever you can beat the bots, you're ready to go online. 2) Do not play All Pick if you solo queue. 3) Be a nice dude throughout the game, and ask other nice people from your team to play again. Add them to your friends list, and after not long you'll have 1-3 guys to queue with most games, which helps a lot.
I just don't think it's for me. It's why I love Minecraft so much, sure there can be a lot of action where I could be working in a team but other times I could just be standing there talking in chat. I haven't been on there in ages, but there was this server I went to practice my German and most of my time was spent just talking in chat or me listening to them speak in Teamspeak. I just don't see that happening in Dota 2...
