What an amazing record is in that letter. It is almost 50 years after the events described, yet the writing is very immediate and present. This line jumped out at me. The wife of AH is about to give him LSD as he is most certainly near death and I went quickly into the cupboard in the other room where Dr. Bernstein was, and the TV which had just announced the shooting of Kennedy.
-- the shooting of Kennedy is mentioned so briefly and incidentally. She ignores it and goes back to the business of being with Aldous as he dies. When a loved one is dying, the fact that the world is going on somewhere else is of no interest. It is outrageous that the world continues. In any event, Laura Huxley paid no attention to the assassination.
