Superbowl watching parties are without a doubt the best place to express Tex-Mex. My beef is when people get all boujie about it and pretend it's some sort of "regional cuisine" rather than the kids' menu version of what the guy cutting the grass eats. Seven layer dip? Should absolutely be eaten with Tostitos and Michelob.
That said, I put out iberico, brie, apples, grilled kielbasa and TJ's finest yogurt spinach and kale dip to go with our Amstel. We ate lamb stew and homemade biscuits.
