Do you know of any application dependent on a workforce of independent contractors that has happy laborers (or, at least, a spoken majority who feel fairly compensated for their time)? As we hear more about dark UI patterns, despotic algorithms, and laborers who feel trapped in an app that doesn't pay like it used to, it's becoming more obvious that an app isn't a way to earn a living. It's not as simple as "You should've gotten a normal job in the first place!" for the people trapped in their ecosystems, but four years ago I would've assumed that some of these apps aren't bending their independent contractors over a barrel.
