The other day, my ex-employer posted a video to F-book in which female workers threw a bunch of water balloons at their work-attire'd male colleagues, who were lined up against a wall, as some sort of fundraising event, maybe $1 per balloon or so. It was captioned, simply, "Girl Power!". A lady stopped by in the comment section to say how derogatory and berating it was to full-grown women when one refers to them as "girls". I penned up a (hopefully) thoughtful response about why I thought she was doing feminism a disservice in that instance, but I couldn't bring myself to hit enter. Something told me that it would have been pointless to engage her. I think the current tribalism in America has enabled extremism to rise up on both sides of the political spectrum, because each side no longer polices itself. But as a white male who has lived a life pretty much devoid of any trauma whatsoever, I feel wholly unqualified to make assessments, except in 100% obvious situations (see paragraph #1).
