I'm a little confused. This was well-known long before MS stopped the free upgrade program, so why are people only now complaining?

    It's as though Microsoft is trying to see just how much it can get away with before people reach breaking point.

What would the breaking point look like, exactly? They've already got millions of copies installed. What are you going to do, give Microsoft more money to go back to 7 or 8, which will then not work with newer hardware?
