There's a nice documentary you should check out if you haven't called Who is Harry Nilsson. It has all the stories in it - Lennon's Lost Weekend and all that. Sad to see how self destructive he was, but I guess that maybe, for a man with natural talent, it was kind of a form of creation.
The first time I heard Nilsson was on NPR. They were playing The Point! straight through. I sat in my driveway for 30 minutes listening. Blew me away. Ever since then I've been an admirer. Oddly enough, I don't really listen to a lot of his work. For me, I love the musician more than the music. But that's why I love the music.
