The autonomous system vendor will use a whole bunch of parts that are certified for use on US roads by the Department of Transportation, just like seat belts, just like tires, just like brake fluid. It's funny how nobody wrings their hands over cruise control but autonomous vehicles are just a matter of degree beyond it.
