Luck is definitely a skin color.

You know how when you were a kid you probably wanted the bike that your friend had that was way cooler than yours? Or maybe you wanted the swing set his dad built in the back yard or the the basketball hoop in your pals driveway.... ?

Me? I wanted freckles.

I could tell pretty early on as a kid that the boys with freckles seemed to get better favor with the teachers. These boys were blue eyed, blonde haired or red-haired, but what they weren't were half-mexican brown kids. In short, I wanted to be like everyone else.

And it's unpleasant, and it's a lot of work, and it's embarrassing,
-I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and I've left some other comments in this thread about how it is "experience" that leads to "preference." I believe this to be true and as such, I think the solution to our race problems could be solved by mandatory dinners. People in positions of power are mandated to have dinner with people that aren't. Breaking bread is a powerful thing. Familiarity trumps ignorance.

Edit: PS. Last night in vancouver. Just got back to hotel room. Had a few. Forgive any errors please.
