I've found that many vegans and vegetarians assume the rest of us aren't vegan or vegetarian because we don't know the impact of our choices on the animal kingdom... when in fact, we don't care. Starting the conversation necessarily requires you painting us as either (A) ignorant or (B) callous. Meanwhile, we're just trying to have lunch. I have several friends who are vegetarian.
