I go to SoundCloud for most of my music nowadays. JACK댄스( is putting out some great mixes, such as this one for Frosty is a series of grime remixes by various labels and DJs (btw if the Hangul doesn't render properly on your computer... get it checked). Found a great radio show the other day - audiophilia by PatRock It's broadcast on KTUH, which is the University of Hawaii student radio station. He has such a relaxing radio voice and the choices are eclectic as hell. My only complaint is that only the first hour of each (three hour!) show is uploaded onto SoundCloud. I need to make a cron job or something that rips the entire show whenever it airs and saves it to my hard drive, because due to timezones I will never be able to tune in live without sacrificing half a night's sleep. I have the same problem with livestreamed tinychat club nights (e.g. SPF420 and ecchiparty). It sucks when everything's working to EST so in order to listen I have to stay up til 5am. Why can't I be a cool internet music cat? I'm also obsessed with Akiko Yano (矢野顕子). She is a Japanese singer-songwriter who has been recording since the 1970s. Among many others, she has recorded and performed with Yellow Magic Orchestra whose releases so influential and members so prolific that it deserves its own post so I will not elaborate further. Her singing style and voice have been compared to Kate Bush. I don't understand the lyrics (even with Google Translate which is pretty crap for translating between very different languages such as English and Japanese) but she has a quirky and whimsical delivery which I find charming, despite the language barrier. Catchy, too.
