I only started "building" my bar stock up about a year ago. I would just do it one or two bottles at a time. I think it's also important to note that you don't need to break the bank and get the highest end bottles. Start with mid level stuff but never skimp on the non alchoholic ingredients. If it calls for citrus juice, only use freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice. Make your own simple syrup... It's simple. Buy quality bitters and vermouth. Most importantly, have fun and experiment. Also, it's WAY more fun when you have someone to share your concoctions with that will give you honest feedback.

I owe my passion for mixology to cW. I can attest to the fact that the man makes a fantastic drink!! But his drinks aren't fantastic because he uses only top shelf liquors, that may be a component, but the reason they taste so good is because of his dedication to craft. His drinks taste intentional, while mine largely taste coincidental. -Even a blind squirrel....
