1. This is easy to claim, but I've yet to see any concrete evidence of it, and your claim of historical evidence is dubious - as far as I know, no modern nation has ever implemented a basic income (excluding Brazil and some pilot programs in India, both of which were met with great success).

2. This argument doesn't hold much weight for me because I'm sort of in favor of coercive paternalism. But even if I wasn't, the basic income as I envision it would tend to protect its citizens from inability to earn money, and the protection from their actions would be a side effect.

As far as the basic income's fundamental socialism, I think the issue here is that you're referring to socialism in the Marxist sense, no? I most certainly am not.
