"What many of us feared is already a reality: Facebook is using us as lab rats, and not just to figure out which ads we'll respond to but actually change our emotions," wrote Animalnewyork.com, a blog post that drew attention to the study Friday morning.
I'm sure that somewhere in their "rules and regulations" it states that they can do this. Why is anyone "shocked?" FB has repeatedly made it clear that those that use their site are the product, not the consumer. This is the case on just about any/all social media sites. FB is now at a place where it feels it's indispensable. -It's not and eventually consumers will let them know this.
