Just so you know, this doesn't happen just in Brazil. In the United States, we have major American Football teams that will receive large amounts of tax breaks (dollars) to subsidize the building of their stadiums. This happens for all major sports here. The justification is usually that the stadiums will generate local/state revenue that otherwise would not exist. I suppose this argument has some merit. But at the same time, the majority of the revenues generated by this endeavor will go to the owners of these teams and not the local population. Will they get jobs? Sure. But honestly, many of these teams would still likely be where they are and would pay out-of-pocket for their stadiums even without the tax breaks. It's a corrupt system. Welcome to Hubski Gmt!
