It seems to me that prior to having a conversation with a skeptic, you should gauge whether they see the CDC or western medicine in general as legitimately knowledgable. Otherwise, you will not get far in the conversation before you both throw your hands in the air in annoyance. There needs to be an understanding of who the authority is on whether a medical practice is safe or not or there can be no consensus. Who does your wife hold as that authority? What data does she use as her means by which to educate her class?
