Ha! A hyperactive sensus divinitatus may well have been the cause of many an historic hijink(s). I take umbrage, too, as I am both Christian and agnostic - although I apply the latter term here in its most literal sense, to imply merely an incredulity toward any and all rational certainty, the demonstration of which is beyond all human effort. The concept of the sensus divinitatis is, however, quite compelling to me. It suggests that our ability to sense the divine is easily obscured or confounded. All of our other appetites are susceptible to delusion, so why wouldn't this neatly explain the massive split on matters of the transcendant -- either in one direction or in the other?

As for Plantinga's framing of evolution, I can't profess to know much more than you at the moment. He's not careless by any means, though. As is true of most philosophers, he observes a rigorous attention to terms -- though you may take issue with his gauge. If so, I'd find your findings most interesting.
